Painting the Wunderbar at El Castillo, Playa Buena Vista, Costa Rica

So while I wait for Easter to pass before heading to Panama. I had to find something to do. So I used the paints that she gave me and painted a little mural things on the bar. Here's a little compilation of the work. You get the idea... it was fun.

Life at El Castillo

So I have come back to El Castillo. I have been here for 3 weeks. I am required at this point to apply for a VISA and a work permit. This actually might be something good in my favor. If I stay here for 2 years I will receive permanent residency. Something I might should do anyhow. Since most people it costs about 10 thousand dollars and proof of 2k a month in order to live here. We'll see how it goes. In the mean time I have been making art. Playing with music recording and hanging out with Ben the GIANT baby. Things are good if you don't count making money on that list. But it will come. RIght? LOL. Anyhow, when I think about what is the meaning of home. This is home for me. I really love the simplicity of Costa Rica life. And being in the Pacific Ocean almost everyday really makes me happy.

A Friend from Jiminez writes.

He's been on his own journey and shared some of his fears and hopes with me. We really connected almost instantly. Similar stories. Similar pains. Apparently after Jiminez he went a back packing some more on the East Coast. The guy with the hat in the Kayak is Pat. He showed me around town and acted as drinking buddy/wingman. Bill is the one in the do-rag. Go Bill! The photo of me on the bike is me leaving for Puerto Viejo. Through the Paso Real. WoW! Motorcycle heaven.

To fly or not to fly? That is the Question.

Duh? Stupid question. It becomes more and more apparent to me that there is no other solution but to move in the direction of flight regardless of pain or financial suffering. I need flying in my life as much as possible. And by this I mean Ultralight airplanes. The joy it brings me is unsurpassed.

John Lennon, GOD lyircs

God is a concept,
By which we can measure,
Our pain,
I'll say it again,
God is a concept,
By which we can measure,
Our pain,
I don't believe in magic,
I don't believe in I-ching,
I don't believe in bible,
I don't believe in tarot,
I don't believe in Hitler,
I don't believe in Jesus,
I don't believe in Kennedy,
I don't believe in Buddha,
I don't believe in mantra,
I don't believe in Gita,
I don't believe in yoga,
I don't believe in kings,
I don't believe in Elvis,
I don't believe in Zimmerman,
I don't believe in Beatles,
I just believe in me,
Yoko and me,
And that's reality.
The dream is over,
What can I say?
The dream is over,
Yesterday,
I was dreamweaver,
But now I'm reborn,
I was the walrus,
But now I'm John,
And so dear friends,
You just have to carry on,
The dream is over.

Rockin J's, Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica

The road in from Limon is about 70kms. The last 25kms is complete shit. I roll in on the bike. And ask the first guy I see. "Hey where do they have those cheap tents for rent on the beach?" "Rockin J's", he replies. So I head to the end of town. Wow, lots of Rastas to say the least. My plan was to stay three days. I pull up to the place. My first impression was that this place looks really cool. I ask if I can setup a tent. They say, "we've already got tents setup you can rent which include mattresses and sheets." "5 bucks a night". Sounds good. So I get my tent which is on a platform in 4 rows of about ten tents. I unload my stuff and proceed to stroll the grounds. The amount of mosaic work is mind boggling. Rockin J's recruits campers to do a mosaic if they so wish. The place is covered in cool images. The bartender at the restaurant, Alisha, is a beautiful surfer girl from California. She's on a mission to surf all the famous surf spots in the world. She's been here for one year now. Then there is Sonya. Sonya is a muse. She is the one whirls, twirls and smiles because she knows who she is. The girl you don't ask out. Or prepare to be broken. I meet Old Hippie John a 66 year old dead head. Then there is John Angel, a Canadian Mailman with dreads down to his ankles. It was quite a mix. Mushrooms, Marijuana and LSD or abundant. As are the people who are obviously on these drugs. Who shall all remain nameless. LOL. So my 3 day stay ends on day 12. Ooops. But wow what an incredible place. I meet so many very interesting young and old people who were all explorers in their own ways. Some of the 20 somethings had seen more of the world than most people I've met. The beach is beautiful with torquoise water and nice reef directly behind the place. The selection of food is impeccable.

I think Rockin J's is one of the coolest sopts in Costa Rica. I even added my own mosaic. If your coming to Costa Rica come here. You will not regret it. Oh and buy your drugs at a place called Tex Mex in the center of town. Just ask te bartenders. They tell you who is good is who isn't.

Milk

So this is a funny story. A couple of weeks ago when returning on my bike from Nicoya. With fresh Burger King for Conrad, and myself. A young blonde woman was hitch hiking. I stopped and said get on. At that point I noticed she had 3 or 4 huge shopping bags that she used as luggage. Oh.... hmmmm.... maybe this is not such a good idea. But hey, it's only to Samara.... about 7km. So she loads up on the bike with all of her goods. About half way to Samara she tells me she is actually headed to Nosara which is about 34km. Hmmm? Well what the hell. I've got nothing else to do. And she's already loaded up on my bike. We go through the river. Then at about the half way point we stop to re-adjust ourselves. I get off and she is still on the bike. Kickstand down we start re-arranging her goods. Then all of sudden over goes the bike with her on it. She did a good job of getting her feet out of the way.

I then realize I've got an empty(except some highly desired whopperss) backpack that I am wearing on my chest. I tell her hey you wanna put some stuff in here? She gives me some groceries. As I get onto the bike an open milk container is bleeding heavily out of my backpack. And since it is on the front looks like I peed myself. Wouldn't be the first time. LOL. So eventually we make it to our destination. She gets off... I check the bag. And empty out her stuff. Oh no! Our Whoppers and fries soaked up all the excess milk. Oh well... who needs the fat content anyway? I DO!

So she snaps a picture of my soaked pants. I meet her 2 friends that are there to pick her up and say goodbye. Good Luck Gringa Chica!

So? What to do now? Go back to the states? Stay here and try and make something work?

So, as I said, the work here is slow. Really, really slow! I am kind of at another cross road. I think I found a good place to fly on the OSA pennisula. That said I don't much care for the town of Jimenez. But there is a runway in the middle of the town and it is a town of fishermen. It supposedly has some of the best fishing in the world. Anglers from all over the world show up there to fish for Marlin.

I am considering trying it for a month down there. But I will know for sure tonight after discussing with Guido.

If that doesn't work out I may head to Puerto Veijo and try and find some temporary work until I settle up some of my loose ends. Like selling the 2 motorcycles.

Possibly then I may return to the states(a little defeated of course) and get a REAL Job again. ARRRGH!

Money is running thin so I need to start making some instead of spending it all.

I should know more tomorrow and will update my blog accordingly.

Rockin J´s Puerto Viejo

Wow, this place is magical. I am staying in a tent hotel with young backpackers from all over the world. I feel like staying here a while. Maybe I will.
